With the arrival of the first inhabitants of Portuguese origin, starting in 1875, the history of Gramado began to take the form we know today. Already at the beginning of the 20th century, Italian and German immigrants came to compose this cultural framework full of history and good cuisine. Nowadays, these different cultures have given rise to one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Brazil.

Bela Vista opened its doors in 1972 and is considered the first colonial coffee in Brazil. Since then, it has exhibited its famous recipes that honor immigrants' cuisine with a hint of Brazilian flavor. The tradition of serving a large and tasty table was led by Lira Caliari, the first confectionary of colonial coffee. Dona Lira would soon become the owner of Bela Vista and it was there that she could express all her talent with recipes that have enchanted everyone for over four decades

.

With a family of German origin, Dona Lira raised Bela Vista's cuisine to the international reference level it currently occupies. The indescribable flavors of peanut pie and apfelstrudel made Bela Vista chosen as one of the tourist destinations in the bestseller “1000 Places to Visit Before You Die”, by the American journalist Patricia Schultz
